Unlike many other countries, it is fairly straight forward to open a bank account in China for a foreign national. The only document required is your national passport.
As all the bank forms are in Chinese and most bank officers cannot speak any English, it is highly recommended to go to the bank with a Chinese friend or teacher. All banks will issue you an ATM card. You can also obtain an international debit card, internet and phone banking services by paying an extra fee.
